Photography Archaeology Workshop BODMIN MOOR
This Photography & Archaeology two day workshop on Bodmin Moor, will explore one of Britain’s most complete and best preserved upland prehistoric landscapes.
We will explore monumental stone structures dating from around 4000 BC, built by Neolithic farming communities on Bodmin Moor, and will be considering their significance to the surrounding landscape and the night sky.
The workshop will look the Hurlers triple stone circle and the area around Roughtor, locations that are believed to be built as Sacred & Ceremonial Landscapes and used over millennia.
This day workshop is for up to 12 participants, and requires a minimum of 5 participants in order to be run.

Two high calibre professionals will be leading the workshops.
Carolyn Kennett FRAS, historian of astronomy and archaeoastronomer. Her research into prehistoric connections with the night sky has led her to study ancient cultures mostly in the far southwest of the UK in Cornwall. She has written a number of books and articles on the subject including national publications. You will often find her wandering the moors, leading walking groups while talking about ancient connections to the skies above. She is a Dark Sky advocate and a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
Harry Fricker MA will lead the Photography on the workshop. An accomplished photography lecturer and a freelance photographer with a passion for the environment.
Open to photographers at all levels, with no need for sophisticated equipment.

Itinerary
We set out to explore the surrounding landscape to pre-selected locations with outstanding photographic potential, including; Stowe’s Hill, the Cheesewring, the Hurlers and Roughtor amongst others.
The road map below, is a guide to the locations. The itinerary, will be defined closer to the date, depending on weather and choice of optimum locations in this unspoilt landscape.

Pre-workshop learning
Your leaning journey starts about ten days before event.
We will meet online, so that I may start tailoring your learning experience.
You can tell me where you are at with your photography, and what you would like to take away from the holiday workshop. It also is a time to ask me any questions.
After the meeting I will provide you with some learning materials in preparation. Not homework, but materials to focus your mind, so that we hit the ground running.
After the photography holiday, enjoy one month free online support. Providing you with excellent opportunity to improve your skills. The pre-workshop learning and the online support are included in the fee, at no additional cost.
